Retro Africa is the professional stage name of Themba Austin Khanyile, a South African Deep House producer, composer, audio engineer, and the founder of Mate Music Entertainment. A torchbearer of the Grootman Music sound, he balances jazz-inflected chords with dancefloor discipline, building tracks that move like conversations between generations of South African house.
Under his own imprint Mate Music Entertainment (MME), Retro Africa curates a catalogue built on craft rather than volume. His new 15-track LP Jack Of All Trades (MME006) releases 28 August 2026 with a pre-release bundle on 7 August.
